I decided it was time to get a compression tester because my bike is always a bitch to start as in takes a couple of minutes & it doesn't have the power which others seem to from what others describe. The readings I got was #1 188psi, #2 190psi, #3 145psi, #4 180psi. The good ones are well within the tolerance but #3 is well over the 28psi variance. The manual says it could be a few things & it looks like I have a top end job to do 'scary stuff' but can it be done without removing the engine?? I really don't want to be taking it out if possible.

if you pour sum oil in the bore ? you can tell if it is the ring,s/bore or the head ?? oss-popcorn

if bore is worn or ring,s f*cked oil will pass through comp stay,s same if it goes up because oil in there must be the head ?? oss-popcorn

Compression just went to 270psi

Just tried again so that oil has had a fair bit of time to seep past the rings & it maxed out the guage at 300psi

I thought it was that a bit of oil down the bore would up the figures because the oil helped to seal the rings/bore. That is a massive reading btw, how much oil did you put in ? A leak down test will tell you were the fault is,bores/valves/gasket.

you put piston too top on that cyl screw adaptor into plug hole put compressed air down it ? and see where it come,s out ? oss-popcorn
