Oooops, can someone shift this to Oilcooled please? Yes. Semi synthetic oil is OK for a B12.

I've been told mineral oil stops the clutch slipping is that true?

I've been told mineral oil stops the clutch slipping is that true? Not as such but the older style plates like it better than semi and fully synth! Generally use any good oil and change it regular - no 20,000+ mile oil changes with these motors!

I use Motul 4T 5100 semi in my gsx-r1100 and have had no clutch slip, or any other probs. I change it every year (about 3000 or 4000 miles at most) with a filter.

I use Motul or Silcolene semi-synthetic.. (I'm mates with the guy who owns the local bike shop, whatever he decides to give me at cost I take). I change the oil every year or every 2000 miles - as soon as it starts to lose its colour (chemical engineer told me years ago change in colour means its just starting to break down). No clutch slipping issues with Semi-synthetic

Sorry to drag this up again...
Engine hot, pootling up motorway and go to overtake, give my b12 a handful and clutch slips like a bast#rd...
Thought "f#ck..."
Tried again, same thing.. Absolutely fine at "normal" revs and riding
This is with fresh (less than 200 miles) oil
10w40 semi synth.
Clutch feels fine the rest of the time, could it be plates or just dodgy batch of oil?
Cheers (sorry for rambling... Had a skinfull!)

Cheers (sorry for rambling... Had a skinfull!) Hot engine might be sign of fueling running lean. Sure it's the clutch slipping and fuel starvation? The bike might be running out of steam and feel like it's the clutch at fault.

Apologies but hot engine was misleading, I mean oil hot as in not just started up.
Revs go through the roof, doesn't feel like its running badly?! I don't think! Cheers for quick reply BTW!

you did use a motorcycle oil and no car stuff?

its motul 10w40 motorcycle oil, used the stuff on my last bandit as well and never had this. Happened again in way to work this morning.
Think I'm gonna have to take plates out of clutch and have a look...

stick one Barnett H/D spring in that will probably cure it, if not its probably just worn out..

Cool, didn't think about springs to be honest...
Looking at rest of bike I'm almost certain they will be the originals!
Cheers for replies!
