Looking at the possibility of fitting a multi-function dash , one with an analogue looking tacho and an LCD display, there are a couple that look like cheaper copies of KOSO units (from Asia). If anyone has fitted one, what do you think of it ? which functions did you use and how did you wire it in ? Cheers in advance.

I fitted a koso one to my dad's fighter, I'm not keen they are small and I don't trust it.
I fitted gsxr 1000 clocks to mine, they're bigger and look much nicer.

Thanks for the quick reply, looking 'right' is a big issue. I've thought about earlier 1000 clocks (would look really nice), but I'd have to fit the late Bandit sprocket cover, speed sensor and then fit a speedo healer - my gearing is different to standard. But anything I do will involve a bit of work I guess.

I fitted a Trailtech Vapor dash to my B6 as i had swapped my standard front end for an R1 front and had nowhere to fit the B6 clocks and ignition and at first it worked fine. No need for a speedo drive from the front wheel, just fit the magnet to the front disk, route the sensor cable from the inside of the fork leg up to the dash and plug it in, measure the front wheel and program the dash and it worked fine. For a couple of weeks. Then it wouldn't read the speed constantly. I'd be doing '70' (honest officer) and suddenly it would read that i'm doing 7mph, next second it reads 120, then back to 30. A week or so of this and then i just stopped getting speed readings at all, just revs. Couple of months ago, just before i left for the TT, i was running a Colourtune kit on number 1 cylinder and the dash started to spaz out and then just fried. Dead. Hasn't worked at all since. Just fitted a £40 cycle speedo to it until i can sort out another digi dash. May go for another Vapor as i already have the surround with the idiot lights on it still working but i've got some others in mind too. Harry74 has recently fitted a digital dash to his B12. It's a tiny 3 inch long and about i.5 inch tall and has a cool, blue back light, about £110/115 off fleabay, and so far, apart from sucking his battery dry while at the Southern 100 when he left its light on, it has worked without fault. His has a £15 adaptor which uses the standard speedo drive cable and turns it into a digital signal for the dash. Seems to be pretty accurate too, maybe 3-4 mph out at about 50 through the roadworks. I'll try to get him to upload pics of his so you can see how it looks. If you are a member on banditforum, my dash is on there as part of my B6 build in the projects section from last year. Check out www.digital-speedos.co.uk too, he has some really cool looking ones on there.

Cheers Traff ! lots of good info - I was looking about and spotted the Veypor stuff, some very advanced stuff too - have just got so enthused I bought a VR2, not as neat as your one, but I found one at a good price - just got to make it look neat with the standard warning lights - I'll post something when it's done.

I fitted a KOSO unit to my GSX1400. Everything I have connected so far runs off the bikes standard clocks plug. Back light, neutral, main, oil, fuel gauge, revs, I took the speedo off the front wheel, no magnets, it counts the disc bobbins. Has lots of features like pre-shift and shift lights and remembers top speed and highest revs from the last trip counter, speed "warning" light and heaps more. They are a quality unit and I liked the choice of black or white faces and the choice of 10 / 14 or 20,000 rpm scales. 10 suits my grunty 1400. I'm no sparky but an hour with a multimeter and a couple of posts on the 14 forum had it up and running without even a wiring diagram. Been on for 2000+k's and through a couple of storms. Still like new. upload image online

Really like the look of that TonyNitrous ! It's a direct replacement too and retains a factory type look. I was impetuous perhaps, didn't see any Koso clocks that were 'great discount, buy now' sort of price, did find a lightly used Veypor VR2, that was taken off a bike when it was sold, that was 1/2 price, so I did 'buy now' ! - will have to retain the warning lights with the Veypor and it's not waterproof - easy to remove and upload data though - still. something new to play with !
