Hi, has anyone fitted a slingshot 1100 1990 bike with a full front end off a gixer 1000? I also want to know how I can improve the back as the bike sways a touch when cornering at high speeds. Do I just fit a better shock or can I change the swing arm so I can the rear wheel and braking system off same gixer I got front off? Pictures or advice off any successful projects would be a appreciated. Thanks

Not sure about the whole front end but I've been told the k1-4 gsxr1000 forks will fit into the standard usd top and bottom yokes, you'll just need to change wheels and brakes etc.
I have a gsxr1000 k2 rear shock on my 94 gsxr and its a massive improvement on the original however again I'm told that a k1-4 and honda fireblade 04-07 rear shocks bolt straight in...will need to move battery tray tho

To fit K1-K6 1000 forks you'll need either gsxr750L/M yokes or the 1000 yokes and then get s.head bearings to suit - the 1000 forks are 50/55mm diameter at the yokes and the L/M/N 1100 forks are 52/56mm at the yokes - the 1100 forks are 50mm longer to allow clip-ons above the top yolk to be fitted. If you fit clip-ons below the top yoke you'll have clearance problems with the fairing, which is different to the 750 upper, which has the lower bars. If you have no fairing and fit conventional bars (adapters fitted on top yoke)then it would be easier. This link gives a few ideas of the differences. www.gsxr711.com/content/navi.html

Another possible solution to the clip on problem that some people have used - the top yoke of the Fireblade 929/954 models have a drop to the section that clamps to the forks. I believe it's about a 2cm drop, this with dropping the yokes 15mm down the forks will give enough fork above the top yoke to fit after market clip-ons. You'll need to check this, but I believe if you fit the whole front end of a 1000 the fork spacing of the Honda top yoke is the same and so can be used. There will be no pick-up for the speedo cable on the 1000 wheel either, so a digital speedo needs to be fitted, or the sprocket cover of a late Bandit 1200 fitted (these had speed sensor fitted there). I was going to fit different forks in mine, hence knowing a lot of the issues ! I actually over hauled the original forks myself and was happy with the results - the modern forks are a fair bit lighter than the 1100 usd items and do damp well - maybe one day. Fitting a good shock, revamping the forks makes a big difference - plus I've lifted the rear 20mm and the front is 16mm lower, it steers really well now and handles bumps very well.
