The fella I bought the motor from reckoned 162 bhp with rs40s and a flowed head (1380) ..? Mines will be flowed running rs38s I reckon 140 s more realistic what's ballpark on tuned efe motors

I reckon your closer - a lot was done to Kev's PM engine to get it to a bit over 180hp - 1540cc, big compression, valves, porting, stupidly bumpy cams, 45mm lectrons and clever ignition, so i'd say 140hp would be very good.

1000cc kat engine with 1170, EFE cams,Tingate pipes and 33mm mikuni smoothbores was 128HP so yeah 140 should be close.

A 1380 should hit over 175bhp if the parts are well selected and put together right - the 38,s would be the limiting factor for overall top end power- What's it for ?

I was hitting 160 bhp with 1500 flowed head ,g3 cams and 38mm flats but the head was flowed for a 1230 ,I reckon 180bhp would be easy

Found the printout of a dynorun with my old 7/11 many years ago now.. 1170 ET with Megacycle cams (#385-35 ), bigger valves, DIY porting, mild head skim, BST38ss, straight through 4-1, dual K&N's, Dyna2000 with copper HT-leads.. (hence the ignition cutting out at high rpm.. and old plugs.. ) Reckon my 1327EFE should do better than this despite the stock head, but I'm to stingy to do another dynorun..

I got close to 140 with rs carbs, 1240 wiseco, lumpy cams (forget the grind) and gas flow. it is the torque that matters as much on the road. 119ft/pound enough?

The 1230 EFE engine I had in my Kat, standard head, standard cams/slotted sprockets 105d deg -108 deg, RS 36s and a cobra system dynoed at 125BHP and I might add I liked the way it tried to give me it all at once :-)
