Mixture screw only affects idle & v.low speed operation! Does appear lean so either needle profile / position needs changing or MJ, although most peeps don't ride around long enough on full throttle to achieve a decent plug chop / reliable plug colour! Dyno it - do it properly!

Have to agree with the other guys, the plug looks too pale, it needs to be a tan colour. We spend most of our time riding around on the needle, so the colour reflects the mid-range setting. Did you mean second position from the top Dragan ? - if so put the clip in the middle position, this will lift the needle and make this slightly richer. The mixture screw helps when the revs stay slightly high when the throttle is blipped, or when the bike is hesitant when cruising along at a small throttle opening (when it's lean in the first 1/8 throttle).

Sounds lean on the pilot mixture screw, back them out another half turn and see if that helps - if you need 3.5 turns out you might need the next size pilot jet. Good luck OS

My Bandit 1200 Mk1 is on 2.75 turns out - this seems to be perfect. I have tried many settings, and balanced the carbs. This setting seems about right. I may move my needles one notch to get rid of the mild surge I get when I open the throttle at very low rpm....
Pilots are critical for touring - when you are cruising at constant speed (especially in controlled speed restricted areas) they will affect the smooth running of the bike as you're mainly running just off the pilot jets.
Make sure you have new spark plugs, most running issues actually stem from the spark plugs on Bandit - don't ask me why? They have an extremely short life, and I find all manner of issues are solved by renewing them regularly.
The two critical things to smooth running - balanced carbs, new plugs in my experience. Hope that helps

As Captain Chaos says set your valve clearances - it's an easy job if you have the right tools (box spanner, 2 x hex spanner, feeler gauge), but critical to smooth running also. MAKE SURE YOU PUT A RAG INSIDE - I didn't, and when trying to remove the rubber gaskets for the spark plug cavity I dropped 2 copper washers inside the engine..............ffs!! Had to strip the engine. Keep the whole thing covered so nothing can fall inside.
