Hi, the time has come to start a rebuild thread about my mate Igor's EFE. First some history. Long, long ago I worked in a motorcycle shop in Kaunas, Lithuania, and a guy named Igor joined me in the worksrhop to help fix bikes. Around that time i was building an EFE with oilcooled engine and stuff, and Igor got inspired to do the same, so we bought this: from Katanamangler in Scotland. However, Igor didn't start building the bike right away for several reasons, one of them being that he still has another bike (Anal Intruder) which at the time was perfectly fine for him. Untill one day he tried my EFE, and quickly he sold this to fund this: (not the Volvo, but the parts inside) After some trouble with badly designed rear suspension we decided to do it all over and install a swingarm from a newer ZX9R, with 6" wheel, and many moons later we had a running bike. Life was good, Igor had more power, he rode the bike for a few years untill in 2011 he said he wanted to "remove the sharp edges". Some things were not perfect, some things were just bad, he wanted to rebuild the bike correctly, without cutting corners this time. So we disassembled the bike, started modifying the frame, we were under no time pressure at all so we worked on it whenever Igor had time (he is an international truck driver). And then in the summer of 2012 the shop where i worked shut down and i was without work and without a place where to work. Igor put all the stuff in his garage. Early this year i bought it all from him (for a very small sum), with the intention of finishing it one day. Now that time has come.

A few days ago i took the frame to another mate who finished the welding, now it's almost ready. Some small brackets and things need doing still but in general it's finished. Next are the footrests, some mountings for the battery and electrics, and then all the fiddly little things. Engine will be the same B12 which was in in before, but now with a 4-2 exhaust system, because the EFE originally had a 4-2 and it just looks better IMO.

some progress at last. I'm working on this bike in between "real" jobs. Footrest brackets now fitted, the rear ones will be mounted 'inside' the frame tube so that the bolts will not be visible. Seat lock will be mounted in the left footrest bracket. this is roughly the idea i have in mind for the exhausts:

thrown in the engine, now i will work on the wiring. I will modify the B12 loom to fit correctly (coils and ignition lock in different places, some stuff removed). also mounted a modified EFE rear mudguard. The Original Fatty on the background for comparison:

Very little progress here... a bit busy at work, and the bit of free time i have, i spend it in the pub at my mate's place whizzy-popping and heavily modifying his 1100M. I have been playing a bit with my bikes, but not the Igor-EFE. My other EFE is now disassembled: the front end and wiring are going into the Igor-bike (slight change of plan), the wheels and brakes are going into another mate's EFE, frame and bodywork will be stored away or maybe sold, and the engine is now in the GSX-R750: If for whatever reason i might not finish the EFE before spring, then i still have a proper (1100cc+) bike to play with. More updates soon i hope.

Update again. It's starting to look like a bike. Installed the Slingy front end from the other EFE, Slingy wire loom, Teapot 750 oil cooler, and a few more bits. Also a Teapot sprocket cover, because i had it lying around, and it saves me from buying an hydraulic line for the clutch, and it cleans up the handlebars a bit (one less master cilinder). I don't need the B12 speedo sensor anyway because Slingy loom and speedo. And got some footrests thanks to Kristjan. The pushrod for the Slingy rear brake MC was a bit too short, so i put the "yoke" from an EFE on it, which makes it perfect. By the time i'm done there will be almost no EFE parts left on the bike. Only the fuel tank, seats, and that brake pushrod thing. Everything else is more or less modified

hey-good to se you still at it !i remember the plasters first aid stuck on the efe seat- nice story -like the idea of the twin pipes-they seem to look best when they are same angle as the rear frame spars-i dont know why- have to move the exit pipes to keep rain out-although i haer lots of sun in LT-sometimes-

Yes this year we had a very good summer, almost no rain, rode quite a lot and didn't get wet once. Anyway i have turned into a nice weather rider over the last 10 years. When it's raining i play in the garage.
Next week i'll bring the bike to my mates place, he has all the tools to make the exhaust. Then it's disassemble time and have everything powdercoated/painted.

started making the exhaust. Bought some bends and Saulius still has some 60mm stainless pipe. Not much space between the engine and rear shock, to make the link between downpipes and left exhaust pipe. Tagged everything together, tomorrow we will bring it to the dude who welds stainless.

A bit more exhaust done and modified the Teapot gearshift lever Tomorrow we will have the exhaust welded, and we will make a new sidestand. The EFE one is too close to the gearshift lever.

The exhaust cans are from a GSX-R 1100M, for several reasons: i like how they look, they are not loud, and i had them lying around so they cost nothing. The headers are from a B12. I know it's a honda (one of the very few i don't really mind by the way) but i got the inspiration for the exhausts from this bike:
