Wow ! Dirt track is bonkers..... Didn't you have to do dirt track AND road racing to get the AMA no 1 plate ?

Yes, but that was many years ago. Motorcycle racing in the states is now divided by discipline and there are separate series for flattrack and road racing. Brad Baker won our #1 plate in dirt track, and Josh Herrin won the #1 plate in Superbike racing.

My mate brad Hardman races flat dirt over in here in England - he races a Suzuki ! I went to the local round at rye house / very cool grass roots Motorsport - lots of close competition and some great skills -

If you get the chance it's well worth going along to watch the DTRA action,
it's proper elbows and teeth racing & free to spectate.

I had a bash at flat tracking earlier this year ! It was superb. I went on a day long course run by Pete Boast (google him !) and Tim, and Tom Neave were instructors, these two are like the Lowes twins, up and coming racers, and both compete at the highest level of dirt tracking in the UK, as well as road racing. We had a brilliant day learning new skills, and got some racing laps in too. Anyone fancying a bash should do it !!
