There is NOTHING better than an EFE/KAT/GSX with a GSXR motor in it...

Especially a 1395 EFE motor I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the aircooled lumps, far from it. I just think the oilers are better !

I'm not saying there is anything is wrong with oil cooled lumps I just like an air-cooled lump all tuned up and where it belongs For me, it's part and parcel with these bikes , it's their heart and soul. I can understand the attraction of the oil-cooled engines as they are powerful, less expensive and can require far less maintenance.
Nothing worth having comes easily though.....

Air cooled lumps are at the point now where they're worth shoving under the bench rather than modifying for use in a project. Selling a decent one will leave change for other things after the oil cooled lump is bought. Using an oil cooled lump without mods gives power increases that would cost around a grand to achieve with an air cooled engine.
I'm moth balling the air cooled engine out of the ET project and using an oil cooled unit in it's place. I'll strip it (when I get one) and with a few mods have plenty of power. The other advantages will be reduced weight, increased lean angle as it's narrower, and an alternator which will allow me to modify the electrical system.
There's nothing wrong with air cooled engines, they're a great unit. However, they're not right in all situations and are getting to the point where they're worth preserving for restorations rather than modified project bikes.

Got these in the post this morning the top one is as it came the bottom one was the same but a wee strip down and remove the scabby anodizing from the lever and then a hour on the polishing machine along with some stainless bolts. You can see the difference more nice bits for the Kat not bad for £26.00
