Hi there!
I'm Pepijn from the Netherlands, now 24 years old and want to start dragracing in 2014.
Let's talk with lots of pics
I started dragracing with scooters around 2006 till 2011 in a Dutch championship. Very fun to do and with around 200 people on the start every event it was also very fun in the paddock.
Me on my white Piaggio Zip sp.
But everything come to an end so does the dragracing with the scooters. Less people on the start every year and the ''speed'' became boring.
So I made a simple plan, I want to dragrace with a motorcycle! So the scooter and all the stuff have been sold and I started searching for a good base to start with.
I couldn't afford a complete dragbike and I like to build something for my own. When I was in Austria for a snowboard vacation I found this chassis on a forum for sale in the Netherlands.
Actual pic of the advertising
New build chassis (Pro-Stock)
New Marvic Penta 2 Mag wheels
New Mickey Thompson reartyre
New Bridgestone front tyre
New Kosman OS kit
New Kosman ofset sprocket kit
New Kevlar/carbonfiber bodywork
New paintwork and airbrushed lights
New Pingel petcock & filters
New sprockets and chain
And so on...
It almost could't get better! So I made an appointment by email from my vacationadress
A week after I came back from Austria a friend and I went to the owner to make the deal
Just got him home
First thing I bought was a new Vance & Hines sidewinder.
Testfit
And I finally found a clean good stock engine to start with.
Engine cleaned and painted some covers.
I didn' had much rush to finish the project also due some financial reasons. BUT a friend invited me to bring the bike to a very nice car event she organized the second time in Ede the Netherlands.
So in a week I put anything together with some help of friends.
There were lots of photographers which never seen anything like this (when they hear dragbike they imagine stretched buss's)
And one of the best pics I have of the project
Well that's it for now!
Why no bigbore, nos or turbo?
Because I cannot afford it yet so I want to start riding with this engine and get some experience first. And till that time, save money to build/buy another faster engine! (got a option on a 1400cc funnybike engine, but will cost around 8k so that's something for the future).
First things to do:
Order parts from Starracing.com like a Dynatek 4000 and lots of other parts to finish the bike.
Well, what do you think of this project so far?
