I never bothered with facebook but was a little disappointed with comments in the latest s/f magazine about 'run down bandits with motocross bars fitted' and being an 'uniimpressive steed'... seeing as i own 'a run down bandit with motocross bars', and it might not be in the league as a martek ducati (niiice) but it still gets me around with its weeping head gasket and other little problems which I think its quite impressive!!

the thing is that the older oss members here who have actually met each other are cool with the piss taking to just about any degree.
The young 'its a streetfighter innit' crowd seem to have had a humour bypass

Then you get small minded people who really push the limt. Used to like streetfighter page but now i just stay away

I think the streetfighter 'attitude' has definitely changed to a more style conscious/fashionable image kind of thing now, rather than the bikes being first and the 'image' kind of following... but then being the old fart that i am its quite easy to take offence at these brash technology savvy young people!!! facebook,bah.....

Got agree with yer, lately its gone beyond a bit of light hearted piss taking and banter and turned into nothing more then slagging people and their builds of Thing to remember is there is always gonna be a couple of "trolls" who do this just to get a response.... Best thing to do is just ignore them cos the more response they get ,the more they do it
DONT FEED THE TROLLS

Happy to say that I don't frequent FB so can't really comment but I will anyway ....
I see it like this, the SF scene started as a kinda underground thing, despite it stemming from the UK's biggest custom bike mag. Ok it was about raw power but styling did come into it to a degree, less was always more. At the time the main camps, other than mainstream motorcycles, were greasy herberts on chops, dreads on rats, men on drag bikes & power rangers on race reps. Times seemed different then. The chop, streetfighter, rat scene etc etc & to a degree, riding a bike in general, were seen as something associated with being antisocial & attracted, amongst others, people who maybe didn't fit the mould.
Fast forward a few years, motorbikes are no longer seen as antisocial, Streetfighters, chops & rats, as well as cafe racers - the antisocial bike of its day, are now popular fashion statements to some people, spread vulnerably over the Internet at the mercy of anyone who cares to comment.
Kinda sad but that's how life goes. Look at most things that started as a bit underground, reactionary or subversive, they all become popular, fashionable & no longer attract only the misfits in life but the knobbers too.
That said, some of the stuff that gets advertised on eBay as a streetfighter does make me laugh. Bikes are about having fun tho & feeling free, so to each his own.....Innit

I ain't on fb give it up 2 years ago as got fed up of the utter crap people mostly post on there and Right enough grey I think everybody gets caught up in the whole latest forkes seats lights ect and loses track of why you.are building it in first place light weight handling speed/acceleration at least that's how it should be in projects pages on all forums I see people knocking somebody for using an now out of date seat unit that's been kicked and tripped over in the shed as being so yesterday point should be you use what you have lying about can beg borrow or make my favourite sfighters were from early sf mags twin spots loud pipes big bug eye lights that's the reason I first picked up the mag many moons ago but IMHO it looked good then and still does now maybe people will stop building to get featured in mags and go back to building because it's how you want it and not because times fashion or other peoples opinions dictate how it should be
