Hi guys, has anyone put a gsx1400 rear end into a 81 gsx1100et??? ive got a gsx1100et runing zx9r front / bandit rear end / 150 tyre but it looks too narrow, I want a 180/190 tyre and keep the twin rear shocks so gsx1400 looks the way to go - any tips // whats needed please?? Thanks

Having a GSX1400 here, also a GSX750 Kat frame, which, as fas as I know, has the same width at the pivot points as the 1100. I was wondering about the same, but after checking, it turned out that the 1400 arm is way wider than the 750 pivot width. For proper doing, I guess it's not the easiest job comparing to put in a Bandit1200 arm, with welding up some shock mounts to it (and this is also done by many members here). And fitting a 180 tyre is not an issue, since the Bandit's original is the same.

The problem with a GSX frame is at the front! The chain contacts the frame tube/bracing. You may have to cut out a section or move it or fit an outboard sprocket, bearing and carrier.

Is it actually going to handle any better with a 180 or 190 tyre , my kat runs a jmc arm with a 5.5 gsxr rear rim, I use a 170/60 rear tyre and a 530 chain conversion, the front sprocket is spaced out by about 6mm, there are no clearance problems at the front end or at the tyre

thanks for all responses, i have a bandit 600 rear on at moment with bandit wheel, the handling is great and with the 150 tyre you can drop her into corners lovely!! but when the wife followed it the car on commented on the thin rear - well then its time to man up!!! so was looking at fitting a 180 / 190 - does anyone know if the mk 1 bandit 600 and 1200 rears are the same??? sorry to ask so many questions but first time building bikes ( was into hotrods in previous life had a v8 pop for years! )
