I guess this is the best place to ask,
In the future i'm looking to put together a low boost turbo motor for my Bandit 400 project.
Before we go any further yes I fully understand that this is pointless exercise and I should get a bigger bike but I've already got a bigger bike and I like pointless exercises.
I understand the things i need for this endeavour to a point.
A turbo of some size
Headers
Plenum chamber
Fuel Pump (with return to the tank)
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Work on the carbs
Up Pipe with Pitot Tube
Oil feed and Return to the Turbo - preferably above oil level but i think it will need to be positively scavenged in some way
I was planning on using a turbo with integral waste gate to begin with but my biggest question is how do i select a turbo size wise
I know alot of the bigger GSXR/Bandit 12 turbo builds use TD04 15G/16T Impreza turbos but I know these are too big.
I've been looking at IHI RHB4s - which were good for 65-130 BHP, seeing as i'm looking for a minimal increase to begin with would this be a good starting point
I've got a basic grasp of how it should all work but there are a few major things that are escaping me at the moment - along with any concrete info on teh Interwebz.
So i throw the floor open, OSS massive, any advice welcomed
Ta in advance
Chris

You are REALLY going to struggle with that combination!. The engine has poor bottom end and relies on rpm to make power which won't suit a turbo, leading to a pretty laggy delivery. Building for a minimal increase is the wrong direction - better to size correctly for ultimate output then trim it back. I think you'll struggle to get a turbo small enough to work efficiently - even something like T2's, GT15's and RHB3's are likely to be too big and I fear that all your useful exhaust flow will come at +8k rpm and give two stroke like powerband and not the torquey 'pull from nothing' response. Not saying it won't work but it'll be harder work than it should be!
