Good progress fella, yeah I'd soak them a few times a day for a week before even attempting to remove them but you may find they will snap no matter what as they look fubar. I hate removing header bolts

6 exhaust bolts out (out of 8) the other two snapped clean off....(5+6 looking at the photo, third down pipe) not too bad I suppose, it could have been worse.

Radiator is cleaned, its in fairly good condition over all. there is a patch in the centre, where salt & grit has collected and rotted some of the thin fins....the veins are perfect. would you re-use? or get re-cored?

I didn't break any alloy thats how it is!, I have one bent (headless) bolt to try and get out, and one snapped stud to drill-out and re-tap

Now I have removed the exhaust, I have a question....when the 4 ends popped out of the cyl head, the 'Half moon' metal bits disintegrated, what are they called? I need to find 8 to replace the rusty, mangled ones. cheers peep's.

I think they are called shims, or header spacers shims.....can't find anyone who sell/makes them? Have any of you good people had to replace yours? Help!

Thanks rusty, I have managed to find some luckily, I have a friend in the trade...the carbs have had a bath and I have managed to open one up, the condition is very poor, the float needle is seized, the internal screws have turned to rust, the gaskets are not brilliant, and I think the diaphragm (not sure how to spell it) has fluid the wrong side....so I guess its perforated :-(

Are you going to try and find a set from a different bike or repair the ones you've got?
