I'm just about to get my bandit barrels bored to fit busa pistons and I did a quick google to check what clearances I need, on an SV forum it was mentioned that the busa piston rings are designed to work with the busa's coated bores but there was no conclusion about what effect using them in normal liners would be.
Are the busa rings ok to use or are SV rings (same size, steel liners) the better option?

Straight in iron liner - Check gaps are to factory spec - usually around .4000"

i just dropped off my pistons and cylinders off yesterday for my spare motor to be bored, the last set i had done had .003" total clearance with .015" ring gap. this was in 2009, i put alot of miles on the old motor with peak boost up to 18 lbs with no ring or piston problems. I am having my new set bored the same. This is what i did and it worked for me. Hope this helps

Thread bump Going to gap the rings (Busa pistons in bored out 1127 barrels, turbo use, new rings bought from Suzuki), and I hear different stories about how much the ring gap should be. Any definite answer please?

Aim for 0.2 - 0.35mm, the 2nd ring can be a little looser ie. upto 0.5mm. If you want performance from the off and not too worried about ring life then add 0.15mm to each of the figures.......Happy?

Cool, thanks.
How about the oil rings? Just fit them without doing anything?

No spec's for Oil rings, we normally just fit as is.

That's what I thought as well.
I don't normally do this, this is the first time I build an engine for turbo use.
