Does anyone know if I can use the internals and cartridge from a set of K4/K5 forks into my 94 fork bodies. I want to keep the bodies because they are the anodised blue forks that was specific to the 94 WR Gixxer. I have looked at replacing the front springs with Hagon progressive ones, but I can get a set of k4 forks ( bent stantion on one ) for the same price, giving me an upgraded spring and cartridge. Mostly I'm concerned with the diameter of the fork top and the thread size on the cartridge.
Thanks :-) !

K4 750 is much lighter than the WR so I doubt installing K4 internals would make the bike handle better.

I'm guessing he wants to keep the standard forks for originality.
What about having them revalved by k-tec or someone like that? If not then the hagon route and decent oil would be best

I would go with the rebuild by someone like K-Tech or Maxton. When you cost up the K4 bits, new springs and any machining work against getting a set of forks built exactly to your requirement, it looks a better option.

I can't do a direct swap, the stanchion is bent on one of the forks, and I am trying to keep the originality as well! I would like to go down the Maxton/ K tech route, but I'm on a pretty tight budget, hence why I would look at the Hagon progressive springs as an upgrade. Especially as what you say about lighter forks on the K4 makes a lot of sense.
Cheers for that!
So any one have anything to add about Progressive springs? Good, bad, no great difference etc. ?

I personally don't like progressive springs in forks as they harder to set up properly, as it's not linear in its action which makes it difficult to determine an accurate rate as its a constant variable.
The correct rate linear spring is a far superior option.
I had a quote from Maxton for my b12 forks to convert them to cartridge internals with full adjustability, that came in at around £900.
