Hey all Im new to the forum - have just posted an introduction should you be interested ! This is my B6 project. I recently bought myself a B6 from 1996 with 90.000 km. on it, for a "need to get rid of it" price It needs some attention overall though.. Frame needs painting, rear caliper stuck and so on.. But all major mechanical parts are in good shape, like forks and all brake discs.. A new engine has been fitted too, a 98- gsx600f with 20-30.000 km.. b12 swingarm and rear wheel.. Although the seller told me it was a tl1000r rear wheel, it seems to me it can only be a b12, but hopefully you can help me out with sorting this out.. Also, during disassembly I noticed that some things had not been assembled correctly, and im left with some knowledge, guesses and some logic sense, but I need some things sorted out as I move along.. Unfortunately I haven't got any pics of the whole bike from before I started the disassembly, but I thought I would just post pics of the parts im working on, and then you will get a bigger view of the bike as the project progresses.. Ok, a couple of pics of the engine : Was about to lift the engine out of the trunk of the car today, and as I turned, my left leg got caught in the trailer towbar of the car, and I lost my balance.. Fortunately my dad had a grip on the other side, but the engine fell with the side of the cyllinder onto the wagon..

I have a couple of questions I need sorted..
The oil cooler on my gsx engine is from the bandit, and I noticed the original gsx cooler is quite longer, so will the b6 cooler be enough?
The carbs are also from the bandit, and I read that you could use these no problem, but should they be rejetted?
Ok I mentioned that the seller told me the rear wheel was from a tl1000r, but on the rim is stamped 17 x 5,5 - I believe that all old and new tl models only comes with 6.0 rear wheels is that correct? Is there a way to identify exactly which wheel this is?

Is there a way to identify exactly which wheel this is? the b600 cooler will be fine so will carbs..try them and see all tl wheels are 6 inch like you said, b12 wheels have a 20mm spindle and are 5.5 inch, the tl spindle is much bigger

ah thanks for clarifying on the spindle, then it must be a b12.. I have taken some photos of the frame wheels and other parts, will begin to upload now..

quite handy when you don't have much space at home I'm sure you have enough space at home. It's just that the space is probably taken by sofas and tables and stuff like that. It's all about priorities, you know.

Tuesday this week I drove out to get my new tyres mounted, they should have been finished later the same day but they had a problem with their lift, so they got behind in plans, but tomorrow they should be ready for Pick up.. Also, I ordered some new parts, fork gaskets, steering head bearrings, and some new racing footpegs. On cmsnl I had added alot of small bits and bobs to my basket, when I found out that the amount had run up to 300 pound think I need to reconsider what I Really need from them... Will have a Bunch of Photos ready tomorrow..

Sorry for the late update fellas, but now it's here Im making progress on getting all parts fit and ready for the assembly, then it's time for tidying up the frame.. Got my new tyres fitted. Changed all seals in the fork legs, got the Hagon springs and oil in there. Changed the steering stem bearings, man were they scuffed.. They had been overtightened from the factory it seems to me, don't know why The frame only has some light rust areas, so im going to remove most of it with a steelbrush on a drill, and then add some of that milky rust converter stuff(good experience), there is simply no need for a blasting.. Im going to use hammerite smooth black for the paintjob, and as some might already now, it's a very verY veRY vERY VERY good paint product for metal surfaces.. I would use this paint even if I was offered a free powdercoat.. Got some nice stuff in the mail today aswell - package from cmsnl, and a gsxr k6-k7 shock payed only 60 euros shipping included from germany Ok now to some interesting stuff I discovered today.. During disassembly I noticed that the previous owner had mounted the b12 swingarm with the b6 bushings, and discovered that the b12 bushings were different with the extra 2mm sleeve on each end - I then speculated that probably he had by tightening the swingarm axle with a big bar(it was tight getting off), managed to squash the frame, and i was right.. The frame should meassure 220mm in between, but now meassures about 218mm.. So now the plan is to get the jack from the trunk of the car(like this one: www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/pics/U/F/UF48-979002_1000.jpg), and squeese it back to 220mm.. Todays pictures:
