Thought would do an update , bugger all really what with mental work schedule and arsing around with bandit 12 carbs Went to Newark auto jumble on Sunday and scored sigma non o ring chain as bandit arm one was to short with gsxr 11 arm , it's on but undecided at the moment , pros , lot less friction ,Lot lighter cons , more maintenance and may stretch more . also noticed ,with arm at quite an aggressive angle the chain tension needs to be on the slack side as tightens up when sat on it. To do list extend couple wires and source smallish gell battery ,80 mm high max. bracket for rear brake master on rear sets with brake light banjo Clocks need to go to Mr bond in London for shogun needles and check n seal up , unless anyone on here can sort that one ? rear light mount needs making Good weekend should sort most of it

Thanks mate , the clock saga involves two sets , both goosed, a ebay refund from some skanking twat and a glass and rim from Japan ! Got shogun needles and a trip to London to check and seal up. Not a katana without em though

Been on we bike Japan looking at jockey wheel for the bottom run of the chain , which they do but it's not clear where it mounts but is close to the front sprocket , this would make sense as when the arm compresses the chain tightens and doesn't force itself on the wheel , chain set really slack at mo as tightens up a lot with weight on it Any thoughts , comments or another way round chain tension appreciated

chain set really slack at mo as tightens up a lot with weight on it Any thoughts , comments or another way round chain tension appreciated Just throwing out ideas here so don't regard as criticism in any way. Looking at the very first two pictures in your project build, the angle of the shock seems sit a little much of an angle. Think it might work better more perpendicular to the arm. The top of the knuckle seems to be mounted very high and close to the shock, giving a more radical swing than desired. Is there much of drop in the arm when weight is put on the bike? All these parts swing together at certain points to achieve right amount of swingarm movement. I'd try using a shorter shock and mounting the knuckle a little lower and further away from the shock. Then make, or have made some dogbones to suit the right arm angle. Loving this project b.t.w. Nice to see another kat hitting the road.

Shock mounts were where we could get them as bottom one fell where rear engine mount cross tube is so went off the back of it instead of underneath , which may be an option to move it at later date , this would make the shock more vertical .The whole reason for frame change to monoshock in first place was to get it jacked up enough to turn in ,could really feel the wide back wheel before, without spending 600 plus on quality height adjustable rear shocks. Can lower the arse end from here if it's too sharp but again slack at rest is a bit of a problem

It's not much use to you now, but on my own Kat build I had the foresight to move the pivot points down (8mm) in the frame as I was already familiar with the chain drag/slack issue.. If I understand the application of said "jockey wheel" correctly, it does seem like a way to take up extra slack to me, but it does not help with limiting chain drag on top of the swingarm.. If your only aim for raising the rear of the bike is to quicken up the steering, then you might instead look at altering the trail of the front end by fitting a set of yokes with a larger offset.. (which might not be easy to find..)
