I have one of those new fangled modern soul less character less first gen Hayabusa's. I hate the riding position,as I have a bit of a bad back,so have this week fitted 1 inch spacer's under the top yoke cover to help raise the bar's skyward. It's still crap. The next step I think will be riser's and renthal's,along with the screen being chopped about for clearance. Have any of you's done this mod with a Busa? If you have, any chance of some pic's and thought's on the subject? Being an old fart,I need a more upright position. I want to go touring on it. I know pic's are normally good,so a pic of it,fully loaded with stuff. Good engine but it kill's my back!!

I fitted a genmar bar conversion , and did the buell foot peg conversion , 50mm rise on bars and 15mm drop on the foot pegs made such a diffrence I am 6ft and it made all the difference

ABM top yoke, Renthal 789 Streetfighters bars. Yoke originally had angled pull back risers to clear the fairing, I got them swapped for for upright ones. With a bit of thinking, head scratching, rerouting, both switchgear looms reached, as did the fast idle / choke cable. Clutch and brake were stretched too much so got changed to braided ones. I'm 51 with bike and work injuries and now arthritis. I owned two faired Busa's together but had too much pain on long runs. One got streetfightered, one got traded for a B-King. My Busa based bike is better in many ways, (tank range, legroom etc) except the brakes.

Thank you for the replies. It's good to get an idea over the Renthal number's on the bar,as I havent really had much experience with what's available. Ive been looking up angled back riser's,which I think will just need the screen chopped back. I might need remote reservoir's too. Im lucky,as my Busa has Pretech billet calliper's. Good in the dry,but crap in the wet! Ive had arthritis issues (Im 50)and now have a false hip. This gives me a bit of discomfort after an hour or so riding.
Ive just thought,it has aftermarket footrest that I think lower the footrest's from the std position? They are fairly comfy. Ive been out today and think the 1 inch spacer kit under the top yoke cover is better than standard but it hasnt hit the spot for me. If I could afford it,I'd turbo it Captain Chaos, but my other turbo project's are taking any spare cash at the moment. I cant even imagine what the acceleration would feel like on a turbo'd busa? Mental,Im guessing!

Your bar's (and bike) look great tonynitrous. Id bet that will comfy to ride. Busash. your conversion looks similar to the spacer kit Iv fitted to my bike. Nice and very tidy. I was in two mind's about this subject, with me thinking some renthal's would do the trick. But today,I had a ride out, complete with snow (!!!),with a distance of about 150 mile's and returned home with no aches or pain's I think the one inch lift of the bar's may have done the trick. Thank you to all for your input, all muchly appreciated.

That link look's really cool kja.busa, thank you. If I decide to go with bar's,I'd certainly take a look at their stuff. At the moment though, the 1 inch riser's seem to be really helping my back pain's.

I had similar issues with my busy and wanted to fit clip ons to widen and lift the bars but was told no can do so I had two alloy tubes welded to top crowns on forks, had to redo all internal seals, got the tubes machined flush with crowns which then extended my forks by 60 mm,I then fitted renthal clip ons (carbon tubes),sp1 19 mm master cylinders (polished of course) had my seat recovered and lifted by 20 mm n fitted Gilles rearsets on lowest setting, no issues since busa rides like a good un!
