Valves snapping true, if the bike has been pushed to the redline very often and piston to valve contact has occured. Piston to valve is very close on these, so cam timing must be perfect.
Worn emulsion tubes and needles is a common fault on bikes equipped with Mikuni BST's.
Be aware of 6 pot Tokicos on front and their faults.
Alternator drive bearings probably knocking at low revs on high mileage bikes. 95 and newer have a stupid rubber damper which will break and alternator stops chcharging - can be either fixed or replaced.
Steering damper (if standard one) most likely has a play in it due to leaking oil. Normal, as the bike is old.
Many have dodgy fuel taps that cause engine flooding and hydrolocks.
Oil cooler could be so dirty that air won't flow through.
But if in good condition, they're good strong bikes and can be ridden quite fast.

The external water hoses are prone to leaking. After 20ish years they go hard and brittle.

Not to mention that after many years, most radiators are full of poo between the ribs. But cooling usually isn't an issue, they're pretty cool running engines.

I c I c. Just entertaining the thought. buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/5007628886.htmlWhat I really want is a tastefully modded slingshot something along these lines. But this doesn't look like a horrible deal either considering the mods (including those calipers replaced...) and a shoei helmet. and my size boots. I'll probably let it pass but just getting some opinions anyway.
