i have had bolt nut washer drop out of the clutch ? and lock the engine up ? a numpty had rebuilt it just before i bought it ? so i would drain the oil or remove sump and have a look in there............... smileyt2801

Sounds like it could be anything! And possibly a big anything. Hope to drop the oil tomorrow fingers crossed nothing drastic

i had exact same problem but for me at first i heard a clonking and grinding noise just above 2k. soon after that i rode bike and engine locked at around 20mph while pulling of. inspected bike and turned out it was the alternator was seizing and locking engine. changed it never happened again

Oils changed no shiney bits so very pleased about that, some petrol in the oil poss from before the needles got changed and carbs sorted out. I hope this was just a heat issue due to the lack of lube provided by the oil and no damage has been caused but Time will tel
