So here's what I'm working with:
I'm riding an 81 gs550 jalopy rebuilt with the top half of a 650. I stumbled across a rolling frame of a 94 fzr 600 for cheap. This is a down the road type project very much just doing the napkin math right now.
Front end seems straight forward, same bearings as my 550 need to shim the stem 5-10mm. I think the fzr forks are slightly longer but with the smaller rim. Won't have the roller till Sunday so I'll wait to do measurements make sure what's on the bike matches what should be on the bike before I get too carried away.
Swing arm... harder but not terrible. Pivot width is the same as a bandit 600 and for the most part should be similar to a bandit swap: drill the frame or get a spacer for the gs' s pivot bolt; make the sprockets line up. I think the fzr is only 1mm bigger pivot bolt but again I don't have it in front of me that's just going off what the internet says it should be.
All of that I think I've got a grasp on, just measure, sip beer, measure again, etc. Where it gets fuzzy for me is how to make the mono shock work. I've got a friend who can weld but neither of us are engineers. I figure since I'll have the fzr frame as a reference, measure from the pivot bolt to the frame mount, and then replicate it as near as possible... does that sound about right? Should I plan to brace that part of the frame too?
Only other thing I'd add is my bike is kickstart only so tiny battery, stripped down electrics, kn filters, you know the drill. So frame is pretty roomy for me to work Don't think I'll run into much trouble in that respect.

This is how I did mine on my Kat Next one the battry is sat on top of the shock Bottom part of the shock/dog bones/pivert thing bolted to the back bottom of the frame where the center stand was but strenfend. Hope this helps, but have a look around the projects bit and you will find much more ways.

what width have you got in between the frame for the swingarm? ive an unidentified ally braced monoshock swingarm made by, i think, metmachex, but nobody knows what from, i can measure the pivot width if you can let me know what width you need.
