Hi Guys Finally getting round to fitting the engine back into the frame. Amongst the wires on the left hand side of the bike, where the side stand cable and the starter solenoid are found, I found a connector with a red/ black wire and a green wire. Not sure what this is for as I cant find anything to plug into it. Any ideas guys?
Thanx

Might be your neutral switch fella, there should be a blue as well, not sure if they are a 2 pin and a single or all three on a single connector. Does the green have blue on it aswell? It's not the actual neutral, but it is related to it, seems it might be an ignition cut out if the bike is in gear, so you don't roll if off the side stand.

Thanx Quazi having fitted the engine into the frame I connected the side stand cut out cable, what I think you mentioned a connector block and a separate spade connector" neutral position cable", cable to starter motor, But I still have this block connector to identify with a red and black tracer or red and blue tracer ( did not have my glasses on in the garage) on one side and a green on the other side. I`m not great with electrics but Ill have a look at the electrical diagram and try to identify.

Looking at the diagram, that is the only thing that seems to resemble what you're asking. By the Neutral wire there is another pair which relates to what I mentioned earlier, other than that mate, not sure.

on my Mk2 B12 engine, the gear position switch has a plug with 4 wires: green/blue, red/black, black/white and light blue.

OK so mystery solved Went back and checked against the engine that was removed. Turns out the neutral sensor on the new engine has had the relevant connector broke off inside the plastic sheath, so I could not see any snapped wires sticking out. Replaced with the sensor from old engine, now no spare electrical connections. Guess the lesson here is to compare new parts going on, with old parts coming off. Thanx for your help
