Is there any way of searching OSS members local to me?
A map etc.. showing locations would be pretty cool!
I have searched to see if anyone asked this before btw!

I've wiped my house off google maps and the entrance to my driveway/garden.

Showing cities, town, villages where members are might work?. Just have a look on members profiles mate , our bikes are to valuable to us just from a point of trying to replace them forgetting the money value

Just have a look on members profiles mate , our bikes are to valuable to us just from a point of trying to replace them forgetting the money value Don't take this the wrong way fella, it's not meant to come across as being harsh or anything but I'm not the guy who originally put the idea out there; I was just trying to come up with a way that it might work, without risk to anyone's property. I know only too well how much goes into building a bike and you're dead right, the amount of hours spent fabricating stuff, looking for hard to find parts, and working until the small hours of the morning in a cold shed or garage, makes the money side of things seem small in comparison. Thing is, I can't see what the difference is between putting a rough location on profile and doing the same thing on a map that can only be seen by OSS members?. With over 2 thousand members registered here, it would be asking a bit much to expect someone to scan through every post looking at profiles to find out who's lives nearby. Anyway, just my 10p's worth

From what I can see it might be possible to have a map based on IP addresses but that would only show the general area. Anything more accurate would involve members volunteering their more precise location and I'm not sure many would wish to do so. The little globe thing at the bottom of the home screen does a rough IP location of those logged in.

Think that's pretty much what the OP was after and if you click on the stats for UK, you can see where we all by County. I think, for security reasons, that's as much information as there needs to be.

if you click on the stats for UK, you can see where we all by County Thats all i'm after, how do I do that!! Think because im checking out the site through a secured (work) network that is blocked to me.... Jeez, dont wanna look in your front rooms (where im sure most peoples bikes are kept)! Just a quick way of saying.. "so and so lives in sussex, i'll send them a PM and see if they want a ride out some time"... I can understand in these modern times people being careful about giving out addresses, but i think which county your in is as much detail as anyone would need to know.

All members are encouraged to state their location in their profiles, by that we mean area and country, not full address.

So in order to find someone local to me, I would have to go to the members list and search through the thousands of members (80 new members every 3 weeks!)
Didn't the "old" oldskoolsuzuki site have a map type thing showing down to county level? I'm sure I've seen it somewhere!
