I was wondering.. Under the engine where the muffler mounts to the manifold, there is a bracket on the muffler pipe that bolts to the frame underneath to support the headers, but on my new pipe there isnt any bracket..
I did think when I bolted on the headers that they were kinda heavy hanging in the cyllinderhead..
Would welding a new bracket to the manifold be a good idea or not necessary ?

would be a good idea, but make sure it's rubber mounted.

With a lot of aftermarket/race systems you don't always get the same fittings that you find on standard systems...I guess the idea behind it could be either weight saving, looks and or the fact that sometimes the pipes are routed slightly differently
best thing you should do is wait until you have the collector assembly and link pipe/end can all mounted fully before committing to welding something onto the exhaust that was intentionally designed not to be there

Most aftermarket systems are considerably lighter in weight than stock systems - Bandits are a good example, twin skin headers and collector very heavy! Hanging the whole system just front and back is really not an issue!

Im not running a full system, only the muffler and mid pipe, the manifold is stock. But the issue is that the bracket that bolts to the frame is located on the pipe of the stock muffler, not the manifold.. But I have been riding it this way for some time now, and also when i tightened up the bolts in the head it felt pretty sturdy, so not sure if it's necessary. The new end can is fitted with two springs.
But think I best weld on a bracket when I get the chance?

The standard link pipe/end can on a bandit 6 is stupidly heavy which is why it would need the extra bracket to hold the weight but an after market set up doesn't need it hence why the link pipe doesn't have it....in 19 years of the bandit 6 being in production, exhaust manufacturers haven't felt the need to change so I would say..if it ain't broke, don't fix it:-)

That stock b6 pipe really is heavy it's ridiculos...
