I have only one reason to not have a Gsxr 1100 Slabby: If I had to carry a passenger a great deal. I often think that the rear subframe is MINIMAL and could break if carrying a passenger over rough roads. Surely someone out there has successfully beefed up the rear lattice work for load carrying? And also dropped the rear pegs and muffler too? Or is it a case of trading in and buying a Bandit? What do you think people? .....Kevin

See no reason why you couldn't strengthen the slabby's sub-frame tho'

I think you have got mixed up with the hayabusa m8 Slabbys are bulletproof Yes. The Busa was available from the factory with a steel subframe instead of aluminium, for people who planned a lot of 2-up riding.

Not quite true....... the first Busa's were delivered with an Ally subframe but they started cracking and failing after which Suzuki did a recall to have the steel retrofitted and thenafter supplied the steel version universally. Even used rider only they showed signs of cracking so generally under designed for hyperbike performance methinks!

I reckon any sub-frame would crack if you continue carrying all of those breeze blocks on the back!

A Friend asked me once about getting another bike to replace his 'busa, said it was too uncomfortable for his girl. She was sitting by his side when he asked me this, which surprised me in a way as I know how much he loved the 'busa. I said I would be happy to help him find a bike that was more comfortable for two up riding. They both beamed little smiles of pleasure. I then came up with this gem of a suggestion; Instead of him doing what he said he wanted, which was what she wanted really, why not try the other option? Whats that he wanted to know. Well, I told him, instead of changing the bike, do the other thing, Keep the Bike and Change the Girl. She erupted of course, wanted him to do something about me suggesting such a thing. What could he do?
Well in time he got rid of Miss No-sense-of-humour and here it is some years later and he still has the 'busa.
I know that there are a lot more women riding their own bikes compared to previous times but a comfortable pillion arrangement is still important.
I personally think that the first manufacturer who really gets it right with the " Pillion Problem " will make buckets of money.
