I'm sure I must have a bolt or nut on my slabby from either a kh,ns or an lc. I remember now I have an lc carb needle holding the dust cover on on the rear caliper lol. It works and it's out of site, out of mind.

I do remember it got slightly draconian on the matter of whether your Suzook had parts from other makes then it shouldn't be on the site etc. Bullshit. That never happened on the old site. Even the bike that "started it all" (mr 7/11's 7/11) had CBR600 wheels and brakes.

What I'll say is I must view project sections more often. I miss a lot of cool and interesting stuff by not looking enough. So that's what I'll be doing.

There are many Spondons and Harris's and other trick-framed bikes with only the engine from Suzuki. And they are also allowed (and drooled over) on OSS.
So an RS250 with RG500 engine and loom is OK.
Actually it's good that an Italian POS has been sacrificed to keep a Gamma alive and kicking.

There were plenty of hybrids that were acceptable on the old site. I.I.R.C. there was a Wes Cooley rep built from a CB1100F with a gixer engine. There was more than one zed project that used a Suzuki engine on the old site. There was a Ducati with a TL1000 engine. My understanding of what was allowed on the old site was it was okay to present any build/photos you wanted as long as the heart of the beast was from Suzuki, the older the plant, the better. If the site was to focused on 100% Suzuki parts and nothing else, then it would have culled 95% of projects from it's pages. Try finding a Suzuki single sider and rear wheel for that fighter project for example, not going to happen so common sense tells you have to try getting one from a different make or makes.

Clearly documented on the OSS Facebook page, linked from the rules/description as to what's in and what's out. This is on the new forum too. It's not about an age it's about certain bikes.

Here you go:
What is Old Skool Suzuki?
From the original site: "Early eighties till early nineties, air/oil-cooled double-cradle frames SUZUKI inline fours GS/GSX/GSX-R non-commercial website for sharing technical information SHARE THE PASSION!"
So, that means that the primary focus is and has always been 4 cylinder GS, GSX and pre-watercooled GSX-R.
"But, there was other stuff on the old site" I hear you cry! Yes, some other Suzuki bikes were there however it was always a secondary thing. There is a difference between 'tolerance' and 'interest'. For example, pictures of a standard mint condition EFE or slabby would get people drooling however a standard bandit wouldn't have the same effect.
"But, we need a definitive list" I hear you ask! * OK so we know that 4 cylinder GS, GSX and pre-watercooled GSX-R are the primary focus * We don't mind pre-SRAD watercooled GSXRs as much as we do more modern stuff * Carbed SRADs just about slide in as do RFs * We like TLS and TLR 1000s * Lets face it, 2-strokes are cool * Bikes with trick (or indeed later Suzuki or even non-Suzuki) frames with one of the above Suzuki engines. These need to have 'Suzuki' on the tank/bodywork though, rather than be pretending to be something else.
Water cooled bandits, 650 oil cooled bandits, GSX1400s, injected SRADs, K-series onwards GSXRs, SVs and Hayabusas just aren't old skool.
The contentious topic however, is and probably always will be, oil cooled bandits. They share the majority of the engine components with the oil-cooled GSXRs. However, as above, standard bandits just aren't that interesting. Trick ones are another thing though, there are indeed some out there and we're not talking bolt-on tat. GSXR running gear, 1216, flatslides, turbos etc, that makes them interesting! So, you're not going to get banned for owning a bandit (did you see what we did there) however please keep this place for interesting ones only. There are plenty of other places out there for standard and M&P catalogue magnet ones :-).

Here's the thing. Put the lists and the logic to one side for a moment. OSS is, was and will always be about doing something interesting. Doing something yourself. Enjoying the i interesting things others were doing , themselves.
So the truth was if someone took something otherwise ordinary and made it interesting it stayed. If someone took some thing ordinary and well .. Made it more ordinary it wasn't interesting.
If you have or want to build something interesting or you want to watch other people doing something interesting with the aspiration to a have bash one day then you should, like me, be looking forward to a ring side seat.
If you have purchased an ordinary bike that looks like any other of its kind and OSS isn't finding it interesting it's not OSS's fault. That's how itts wired. No apology will be offered .
We are terminally bored of the ordinary aren't you? We want to take these bikes and make them extraordinary.
If you like the sound of that stick around . You never know you might enjoy it.
