Hey all, just changing the fork seals on a MK2 1200 and upon reading the manual it mentions to get the bushes "fully seated".. Heres the wrinkle I have.. The recess in the fork slider for the bushes is maybe 14mm deep, the bushes themselves are only about 8mm wide... Using conventional methods I can only get the bushes down flush with the top of the recess, So how do you guys get the bushes seated right down against the bottom of their recess in the slider? Or are they in far enough once they are flush with the top of the recess (even though there would be some 6mm gap beneath them)?

Was worried that they may have needed knocking all the way down into the bottom of their recess (some 6mm further than flush with top) and I just couldn't see how I was gonna get anything in there to do the job

You need the seal to go in far enough to fit the big retaining clip, there should be an inset below the top of the recess for it to sit in. There are seal drivers on that auction site.

Not talking about the seal, talking about the bush itself... I know how the seal fits But based upon what someone on another forum said, they came across the same thing, spun up a tool on their lathe to try and drive the seal right down to the base of its recess and said it felt like he would have had to hit it a lot harder than he did to just get it flush to the top, so decided to leave it there...
