Hi guys. Putting a bandit 12 together at the mo. I was thinking of using a bandit 12 arm with an R1 brace welded to it. Has anyone got this mod done already? Does the brace fowl the battery box or know of any other unseen issues in using one. Thanks in advance.

I've done this. You'll need a hole in the sheet bit so you can put the top "dog bone" bolt in and if you need to change the bushes. You may also need to space the pillion footrest mounts out a couple of mill' depending on exactly where you position the brace and you need to trim the rubber "mudflap" on the bottom of the battery box. Other than that, I don't recall any problems but it was some years ago I did it. While you've got the welder out, put some proper paddock stand mounts on.

The holes for the dogbones bolt are on it. The arms for sale a good distance away so thought I'd ask about any issues with using a braced arm on a bandit before I go for a long drive and shell out cash. The bandit it'd going on will have a jack up kit which may help keep the brace away from the battery box but not sure till I get it for a mock up. Thanks for the advice.

I did one a couple of years ago following the way Foz describes which worked out well.

+1. That advice is spot on. The bits about shaping and drain holes was stuff my fab guy did without asking, normal if you are into bikes and do fabrication for a living but very easy to overlook.

I am wondering if this could be done to the bottom side of the arm so there is no issues with hitting the battery box??? This is a clean mod, I have been looking at before I polish my swingarm.

Battery box clearance is not a problem on mine. Mine is only jacked up by 20mm max, which is only mm's at the battery. You could fit your shock without the spring, move the arm up to full compression ( you may need a block or strap to hold it in position) then offer your brace up and fit accordingly.
