hi, i've scored a '99 750f engine. it has no carbs which i believe are 36mm BSTs. i have a set of BST 38s from a 750 wp. can i substitue the 38s for the 36s? thanks in advance

next dumb question although i think i know the answer. i have a set of B6 carbs which will fit but how much power will i lose over the 36s? in other words will it give me any increase over the 600 engine and 32BSTs? sorry, just don't want to spend too much more!!!!!!!!!!!

also, what other carbs will fit? Pretty much any of the oil cooled 600 and 750 carbs can be swapped around as long as you use the right manifolds with them. The 600 carbs on a 750 might be a bit restrictive due to smaller inlets. With the right jetting, the 600 carbs could have nice low end power but not much going on after that. I'd try and get either a set of gsxr 750 K,L (36's) or the 750 (38'). The bigger 38's would have a stronger mid to top end power. Depends really on what you're after, A good exhaust system, air filter, and the right jetting can drastically improve a bikes performance.

Any from oil cooled will fit. Doesnt the 750F have 34mm carbs? There is been said that you can fit wc carbs on an oil cooled just by changing the 2outer inlet boots for 2 middle ones.

thanks jaydee, i'm after about 90 bhp out of my B6. I know everybody will say just buy a B12 but the one ride i had on one gave the impression of mountain ranges of torque that effortlessly got me to 130 without me noticing until i looked at the speedo. i want a slightly more brutal delivery like a gsxr 750 wp but a little more civilised. Confused? So am i and i've had the bandit for 17 years so there's the emotional connection and i've got a wp front end to go on it (with B12 stem pressed in) and a B12 swingarm (1000 K7 shock already fitted), keeping the original wheels as i can't see the point of a 180 with only 90 hp. I've just got a 750F '99 engine but no carbs so there's my dilemma, i have a set of B6 carbs (off the bike) and some WP carbs, i was hoping to do a cheapy engine swap but it's not looking too likely without spending more beer money, something i can ill afford.
thanks koklis, could you explain that swap of inlet rubbers please?

Goes like that: you can take 2extra boots for 2+3 cylinder and put them on the 1+4 place, but that was for bst carbs, bsr have a slight diff spacing

Boots 2 and 3 are less offset than 1 and 4, so putting 2 and 3 on the outside cilinders will make the space between them even larger. W carbs spacing is smaller.
