Hi, Following on from my previous dumb questions is another. Why does a gsx600f (1999 vintage) produce 86hp and a gsf600n (1995 vintage) only produce 77hp (same engine surely?)? From what I can see the carbs are the same so is it cams? I now have a 1999 750f and the offer of a complete '99 600f minus the frame. 86hp would do me for the time being if it's just a cam swap (is it ever that easy?). Any help or info would be very much appreciated.

sorry gsxer, this is rattling around in my brain as i have most of the bits for a 750 conversion and been offered a deal i can't refuse on a gsx600f complete bar frame that has 86hp and i can't work out where the 9hp comes from over the similar bandit engine. i've broken the internet trying to find where it comes from but the engine and carbs are the same and the ecu is the same i think so it must be cams but i can't find any info. Went out for a 45 min blat earlier and a few more hp would have been nice but I don't want to shell out on a typo on a website(not this one!!!).

Carbs maybe the same but the jetting probably isn't...something worth considering before swapping engines surely

Carbs maybe the same but the jetting probably isn't...something worth considering before swapping engines surely I agree.... the only thing I've been able to find online, mentions the difference in power being down to cams, fuel (carbs) and zorst.

I'm pretty sure the exhausts on the 'teapot' and the bandit are the same, post 98 anyway... changing an engine just seems pointless for a small increase in performance...if it were me, I'd sort the handling out as decent suspension/brakes will allow you to ride quicker imho

The teapot exhausts appear to be the same on the Inazuma too... any possiblility the internals are slightly different??. The info I mentioned was found on a website so can't vouch for its accuracy I'd sort the handling out as decent suspension/brakes will allow you to ride quicker imho Yep, even just better tyres!

Deffo agree with the tyres....didn't think about exhaust internals...
