Have 6 pot tokico calipers on front (believe were on 2000+ models) original master cylinder.
Pads have lots of life left Goodridge braided hoses (one for each caliper) No leaks, air or fluid.
Brakes go rock hard if I leave lever bungied up over night but after a "spirited" ride, lever almost touching the bars...
Its not as bad if I ride sensibly could this be overheating?
Could it be the original master cylinder not man enough for six pots?
Discuss....

When you say spirited ride are you still having to slow down and stop at times? If so I wouldn't have thought overheating would be the problem:-/

Are you talking about the satin black 6 pot Tokicos as fitted to the watercooled GSX-R models? These are notorious for their spongy feel.. Had a set on My EFE and spent a lot of time and tried all sorts of methods in vain to get a solid feel into the lever.. Eventually gave up and fitted Nissin 6 pots instead (Kawa ZXR750rr) which are a lot better.. Today however I would choose calipers from a later bike though as quality and performance has improved..

Ahh shite!
Well um.putting in a later master cylinder soon anyway, if that doesn't improve matters then I'll have to sell more stuff to get some later brakes..
Cheers

I have a similar set up on my ZX12R. I gave up trying to bleed the original 6 pots. My budget didn't stretch to Brembos instead I got R6 radials for €100.

Hi, I had the same problem when I fitted six pots to my bandit, tried all sorts to sort it. The answer was to do with the ratio of the master cylinder . Can't remember exactly but think it needs a 19mm . I decided to fit a brembo lever . This had correct master cylinder and brake light switch, just needed a small reservoir mounted to bars. I got it from speedycom think all the lot cost about £80 but it transformed the brakes and the feel . Hope this helps ?

This is all very familiar, I`ve tried all of the the thing you have plus a Galespeed adjustable master cylinder & a new set of pads. So as arnout said give up & change them.

Cheapest option
decent set of 4pots from a tri##ph 955i etc are cheap and lots of these are very well looked after ,
not like bandits and gsxrs .
Only expensive 6pots work well but also need looking after .

Wait till you get 50 years of riding experience, then the brakes get hard and agressive.
What?
