Wheel spacers to fit a 750/1100 sling front wheel in 750 slabside forks Throttle side spacer 27.5mm fork leg to bearing Clutch side spacer 32.5mm fork leg to bearing I made the OD of the spacer 25mm The bit that goes inside the (20mm) bearing is 20mm long to pick up the bearing crush tube Only for race bikes as you can't keep the speedo drive

I have been dry fitting various swingarms to my Slabby 750 recently, and I found the following: 750 WN Banana arm will fit if you use the Slabby bearings and spacer tube – but it’s a nightmare to get a linkage that works and the banana brace hits the standard pillion peg/exhaust hanger. Also some trimming of the spacer tube and a spacer needed to take up side float. Slingshot swingarms from 88 750 to 91 1100 are 235mm wide, which is the same as the Slabby so they go in. If you use a shock linkage from a Bandit or and Rf600/900 you can get a shock linkage that works – you need dog bones about 195mm centre to centre though. This mod requires the lower frame mount for the shock pivot to be widened a couple of mm’s either side. A SRAD 600 linkage will also fit in the lower shock linkage mount on the Slabby frame, but the ratio of the SRAD linkage means it will be a total pain to get a shock/arm combo that works – might be able to use a complete SRAD 600 back end with modifications? My solution (at the moment, it may change…) is to use an RF900 arm, shock linkage and custom dog bones. I will use a remote reservoir shock so that I can retain the standard battery box. Does that help? Probably more questions than answers!

My solution (at the moment, it may change…) is to use an RF900 arm, shock linkage and custom dog bones. I will use a remote reservoir shock so that I can retain the standard battery box. Does that help? Probably more questions than answers! I have a few questions about this;
Firstly, you mention the shock linkage from a Bandit to match with a slingy arm. I'm considering using a 1100M arm in my slabby, does it matter what bandit the donor linkage comes from? As in 6 or 12 or year/model?
Secondly, what shock should i be matching to this? A shock made for a slingy, the stock slabby shock, or one for a Bandit or RF? Or something completely different? Does it matter (kind of leads into my next query too)?
Thirdly, you mention the SRAD 600 linkage. Why is it a nightmare? I know that different linkages will cause shocks to compress at different rates and put different loads on the system. So once you have chosen a swingarm that has the right characteristics for you (length, bracing, looks) and shock(right length, adjustability, quality), is it a case of then matching a new spring and damping (as little as a tweak if you're lucky, or a full re-valve if necessary) to the system? Or is there more to it than that?
I do realize that this is indeed a complex subject. If done wrong it can properly fuck your handling, but if someone with experience in doing these mods has the time, please write up a guide on how its done, what the best shocks/arms to use are (I want to know particularly about slabbys, but im sure there are others with slingys, bandits etc that would like to know about dropping in other arms, i.e: R1, blade etc), and what to consider when looking to do this on other bikes/makes etc.

Iffy, i just copied all the info from the old forum, i didn't write it. And thus i don't know much about this subject.
Where's Del when we need him? Or someone else knows the answers?
