Stock float level is 14.6mm and pilot fuel setting 2 turns out. The bike tends to like a little more fuel on the pilot screw - 2.5 is normally good. When the bike is warm and you blip the throttle - revs hanging means it's a little lean and if the revs drop before settling at 1100/1200 revs, then it's a bit rich. At steady cruise you might encounter lean surge (if lean) or 'soft' response if rich if it's one way or the other. Turning out makes it richer and vice versa. The actual settings vary according to the bike and what is bolted on it - exhaust - free flowing filter etc. It is possible that each carb might need slightly different settings, but more likely that the previous owner adjusted the carbs in situ and just didn't count the turns accurately, my bike has free flowing bits bolted on and is set at 3 turns out - it's hard to be sure how many turns you made when the carbs are still on the bike - can be done, but setting them away from bike is best - then tweak them if needed.

Thanks for the info mate, makes sense that they were adjusted when still on the bike as they were not too far apart.

Cleaning the carb parts yesterday like a idiot i put a small o ring from under the pilot screw in the wrong container ( carb cleaner) and knackered it,today was worse though as i took the carbs to a local breaker to match up the o ring and lost another bugger plus the washer.
I now need from under the pilot screws 2 tiny o-rings a washer and a spring.
Anyone got some old carbs that i can buy the parts off? or recommend somewhere,i've looked at repair kits but they don't have the parts i want with them.
thanks.

I got my nitrile 'o' rings/seals off of e-bay - I think they were 3mm ID and 1mm section - they weren't expensive - £2/3 for 10 I think.
