I've got the original wheels on my bike and need some help as to what would be the best tyres to put on them. I quite like the Firestone or Speedmaster style but am not too sure if they would work.. Any help would be much appreciated

I've always found Avon RoadRiders to be decent.
In fact I would imagine that they'd still be capable of gripping long past the point of no return for the frame and suspension on an unmodified ET. They're good in the wet too as they give a bit of warning/feel when you're getting too enthusiastic.

Someone mentioned something about that a while back. IIRCC there was an issue with a run of them, Avon were willing to swap them out under warranty but most people couldn't be bothered with the hassle so they left them on with no harmful results.

I'll be interested to see how you get on with the comparison. I have Avon on my old knackers classic bikes so it'd be useful to know how they feel on bridgestone.
