never took notice of what main jets the carbs had unto cyl4 was spitting. "spitting" how? Also that may not have to do with fueling.. What jets should be fitted Well.. Whatever jets make the engine run right of course.. Doh.. bike runs good but not able to full throttle from tick over as plays up around2/3k but if i build revs upto 3k then open throttle fully it will rev right up. Well.. As the engine revs (and pulls?) well, I'd say the main jet size isn't far off.. The stumble at 2-3K is where the needles start coming in.. Perhaps lowering them will see an improvement.. On an oilcooled Suzuki (or a bike fitted with carbs from one) I'd say worn emulsion tubes, but also do check the correct fuel level first.. Also make a (mental) note of the difference with a cold or hot engine.. This will tell rich or lean, but in your case it seems obvious it is too rich at low revs (so it should run better with a cold engine) plugs are black sooty black not oily Well.. sooty = too rich.. Question is though what part of the carbs is making it run too rich.. could it be down to air/fuel mix Well, It seems the carbs need adjustment, so air/fuel is indeed what carburation is all about, right?

I have standard carbs, S & B filters and a Harris pipe and, I think, 152.5 main jets. The carbs also have a Ledar air corrector kit as the bike will not run properly without it. The more modern, and expensive, solution is the dynojet kit. For it to have run properly before without the airbox the carbs are likely to have some sort of jet kit fitted. Spitting back, especially on the overrun, can often be reduced by altering the air screws. However, if the bike has suddenly started to foul its plugs, it may be a problem with the ignition. Does it occur on all four plugs or just 2? I had a similar problem once and it was a faulty coil.

ive since cleaned carbs checked coils and leads, new plugs, timing and compression checks have been done all came back good carbs have air corrector kit fitted or so iv ebeen told as there is a brass screw on each carb when you take filters of, my friend has said once im on road with bike if i take it to him he,ll be able to sort it but i need to get bike to him first. since carbs been cleaned and all other checks have been made it runs alot better no spitting or misfire but plays up when try to open throttle fully from tick over its like im running bike with no filters on

..as there is a brass screw on each carb when you take filters of.. Errmm.. Are you sure you're not talking about the air jets? ..but plays up when try to open throttle fully from tick over its like im running bike with no filters on Well.. It needs further adjusting as the soothy plugs suggest too..

That's right. When you take the individual filters off, if an air corrector kit is fitted you will see a little brass insert in the opening for the tiny air hole that feeds into the bit of each carb that raises the slide. These unscrew as when fitting the kit, you had to tap a thread into the original plain hole. The kits came with a small tap to do this. Maybe there is dirt in one or more?

Back in the day it was usually slide carbs that needed ledar kits not cv , grumpy sells them , Maybe worth having a word but i would get rid on flea bay and try some gsxr 11 36mm , search Peter stansfield , he's a member and on flea bay or try grumpy 1260 , again on flea bay
