I just had the Penrite tech department call me. They say that oil is fine for it as it's the same spec oil as their motorcycle specific oil. CH-4/SL. JASO MA.

The clutch cylinder you have repaired should not make it slip unless it's notch or sticking like he'll which is stopping clutch engaging fully. Real daft question your clutch lever is fully releasing? May sound crazy but have seen it happen. How you rebuilt clutch itself, did you put chamfer side of plate in towards engine, did you check pack height are any of the steel plates warped, did you put it back in correct order. You can always use slightly stronger pressure on springs. More important oil concern is cam wear, I would be far more concerned about using correct oil to prevent cam wear, cams wear is quite bad on the oil boilers I certainly would not be using diesel oil, I have seen bad cam wear using motul with real regular changes. I use aims oil now and torco in car.

A friend of mine always reckoned the discolouring of oil was a sign of the degredation. when I studied automotive engineering in Holland, I learned that the colour of oil means f*ck all. Good oils can be black after 50 miles, cheap oils can still be gold after many hundreds. That's interesting, and a relief, by the time 2k comes round my oil has long lost its colour, glad it means nothing
