Right people a mate of mine is picking up a big block kit for his thou, second hand he is getting the 1283 barrels and pistons, right my question is, I have a 77 Gs750, will his old 78 Gs 1000 barrels and pistons go straight on my 750 bottom end and will the 750 head match up, is this worth the hassle of pissing about gasket sets etc, oh by the way my his is shafty mine is chain don't think that will make a difference.

I know the 850 top end goes straight on the 750, and a GS1000 motor goes into the 750 frame. Not too sure about 1000 top onto 750 bottom though! Cylinder hole centres may be off, and the cases will probably have to be hogged out for the 1000 liners. I have 'what fits what' somewhere. If I can dig it out, I may be able to give you a better answer. Sorry if I've muddied the waters even more!

a GS1000G (shafty) engine is basically the same as a GS850G. So that should fit on the GS750 bottom end.

I've tryed this myself, the 850 top end will go on a 750 but the 1000 chain or shaft will not go strate on a 750. 1. the studs are differntly spaced. 2. the top crank case will need taking out to fit the 1000 barrels. If I was you, I'd ever get a complet gs1000 motor or gsx1100 or get a top end/barrels off a GS850. Keep the GS750 cams if you put a 1000 motor in or 850 top end as the 750 cams lets the 850/1000 motor rev faster.
Hope this helps.

They were on ebay, not sure which ones they were, I heard a rumour that the guy was running the big blocked thou lump on bandit 12 carbs? Ok as regards to my engine I don't think its worth the hassle, its in my chop and wont get ridden in anger its not worth the hassle of pulling it apart I don't think, was worth an ask thou

Hi there
I could be wrong but the 850 was a bored out 750. So same stroke you can change barrels Pistons and heads. Not sure but 850 and 1000 have the same head or was it the cams. The 1000 bottom end different. Some one out there will correct me. Hope this helps more than hinders

Err some 850 barrels go straight on some 750's but I cant remember which fit & which don't, 1000 stuff shafty or not wont go as wraith said & neither will 1100, the best things for a 750 if you want more poke are either chuck a 1000, 1100, or a gsxr motor in it or find a RC 810 kit (good luck with that last one)
