I have developed a problem which is causing my fusebox to burn out at the ignitiion fuse. Away for the weekend and I ended bump starting only. I have tested everything right up to the starter so now I think it lies once again in the starter clutch. Could anyproblems lying here cause a fuse box burn out though?
thanks Andrew

Not sure if the starter clutch would cause that issue. But, the starter button and kill switch are prone to old age decay as is the fuse rail too.

As jonboy said & the fusebox itself would be my start point as ive had a few rotted out over the years

I replaced the fuse box. starter turning fine but not turning engine over when in. Maybe 2 problems have arisen at the same time.

it sounds like the rotor on the shaft has come loose,if it has you need to remove, and then use some grinding paste to re-seat it on the shaft, then torque the rotor to correct poundage, this happened on a Kat 1000 i had and on a gs1000, quick session with grinding paste and all sorted.

I'd check the starter motor brushes. It may well turn fine without load, but if the brushes are worn/knackered it will draw loads of current when under load.

worked out my problems(with the bike anyway) Starter clutch rotor bolts sheared and I have also overhauled my starter. Do not know if this problem is resolved yet as I now need a new starter clutch sprocket as this is showing its age but now it is winter so better just to park up and take my time now. Thanks for all the input.
