Hello, I'm Kristjan from Estonia, I live in a small town called Põltsamaa. I have a GSXR 1100WS I'm currently rebuilding - sucked a valve before I even got it out from the garage. I wasnt able to register in the old forum within more than a month before it went down, so here I am now. In OSS Facebook group, I'll go by the name of Kristjan Kuri (if translated to English, "kuri" means "angry" ) I hope most of you can enjoy riding this summer, not only wrencing and buying parts like me. So, here's my bike on 16th of February 2013. Yes, it's winter, and -2 or so degrees Celsius outside! I felt like a drug addict this night, before I got out on the bike to buy a pack of cigarettes.

Yes it's been a long winter. Last year I bought a XJ600SH in the last day of march which I converted to naked and rode it until SMASH (streetfighter event in Estonia). There I sold it to a nice lady who needed a bike powerful enough to complete her full license. And then got myself a FZR 1000 exup which blew up one month later, then had a FJ1100 as a replacement for a while which was traded for a ZXR750 H2. Last rides in 2012 were done on a GSXR 1100 WR(1994) I bought in October and sold for parts later because a friend needed an engine for his 750w. Bought this WS in December. I hope that once its done, I can ride it for few years and raise money for a nice oil cooled gixxer to tinker with. In 2011 my last ride was on my friend'S NSR125 which I have lent from him as I only had a motocross bike, I rode it all autumn until 27th of december. But otherwise, I've been into bikes since I was 10 years old, got my first moped (well, a motorised bicycle, named Riga-13) then and just cant let go of bikes any more. I've also competed in motorised bicycle races in sidecar class, tuned and bult the engine all myself. Best achievement 2nd place on my home track as the monkey screwed up and had to slow down. This kind of races are also popular in Latvia. I thought I've sold my heart to 4 strokes after that, but still fancy owing a RGV250, gotta have something like that in the future. I mostly prefer older sportsbikes, because they are more simple and the riding more depends on the man whos riding it instead of modern traction control systems or other things. Also love the classics, like XJR1300. Tried my mate's CBR900RR SC28 today, nice and light bike and easy to corner, lifts the front end easily in 1st gear (2nd fas fucked - I talked to him and I'm gonna fix it!), but hasnt even nearly as much power as a gsxr, wasnt really able to accelerate past 200km/h... weak, I'd say. But I dont really like Hondas anyway.

you've owned more bikes in one year than most people do in their whole life Yes you're right about modern bikes being boring. Since i moved to LT 7 years ago (i'm Dutch) i have seen only a couple of oldskool Suzuki's, everybody wants new shit, the newer the better. Many people even prefer a 2012 bike which has been neglected and abused, over a 2010 bike which is in good condition, just because of the "better year". For me a "good year" is anything before 1990 and nobody seems to understand that here. Anyway we might meet some time this summer, planning a trip to Estonia and maybe Finland.

Funny thing is that my father always tells me to get rid of the bike and buy a car. My opinion is that he somewhat thinks that bikes are young boy's toys, and when boy grows to man he just have to get himself a car like he did. But he has also had a bike accident when he was young and is now sure that bikes are hell dangerous. Once he even asked me what I need so many horsepower for in a bike!
Finland is a crazy place. So many turbos, a powerholic's dream land. I've never been there, but it might be a good idea to have a trip to the Bomber Weekend next summer. This year I'm busy with graduating school and all that shit, don't have the money or a working bike. You're probably right about the newer vs older bikes. Seems like some people are buying year numbers instead of bikes and some buy them because of the looks. The other half like newer bikes because they are lighter, handle better, wheelie easier or what ever. Older bikes in good condition are getting rarer every day.
When about are you planning to do your trip, maybe there's some bike event happening where we might accidentally meet?

a friend is going to a big bike meeting in Narva next month, but i'm not going. Maybe this summer i'll go to Finland again to visit some friends. Or maybe next summer. Depends mostly on the financial situation, still have some stuff around the house to finish, and a holiday with the wife & kid would be nice also.
Yes i love Finland and its people. There's something weird about it, different from all countries around it.
