Looking good!
I'm also thinking of doing something similar at some point, can I ask - How much primer and how much paint did you use? (how many cans? what size ml cans?) Did you remove 'everything'? There seem to be no pipes and I can see that the alternator has been removed, anything else?

Hi Mightlife, The cases are empty, everything removed as this is getting a total rebuild from the shells up. I used one large can of etch primer , a couple of coats and then 2 cans of top coat, 400ml cans.

Looks great! What kind of etch primer did you use, where did you get it, how much was it ect? Same for the finish coat. Good match for the GSXR grey? Looks it!

U Pol etch primer is very good and readily available (Halfrauds etc) , as Jim has done leave it for 24 hours to "eat" a key.
Most auto paint shops will make up 2k in any colour you like for around a tenner a tin
What colour did you use Jim? Looks a little lighter than std though it may be the flash..
Have you still got that gorgeous GS1000 and it's little friend???

Yes guys, I used Halfords etch primer, and a motor factors mixed satin top coat for the finish, I used Halfords Volvo 228 paint first as someone else suggested but found it too dark looking, so tried another. Yes YJ, both the GS and Rd are still in the stable, Gs hasn't been out since you saw it last, need to get a fuel tank leak sorted and repainted Dts

Do NOT try POR15... I wrecked 2 tanks using the crap..
Get someone who can proper weld to cut it open and restore it...
I will keep my eyes peeled for a good one for you

Yes that's right, no vht top coat, for 2 reasons, can't get the colours in heat paint, and my thinking is that the oil boilers don't run as hot so hopefully the paint will be fine.

Dts Ahh..I'm on the dark (water) side, so I'll go the VHT route. Thanks for the recommendation of the POL stuff though, gonna see if I can sneak some through customs on my way back to Barcelona after Christmas
