After spending 2yrs building my efe in the UK, I had nearly finished and had to move to the USA for work!!
Bollocks!!
Now living in Louisiana (land of open carry guns/Harleys/pickups and Deliverance) I made a 1600 mile round trip and bought this
A 1986 GS1150.
1230cc, cams, Valves, etc supposedly all done and 100%, 18' back wheel, stretched swinger and I was happy Then she shit her guts, rear shock blew, fork seals went smileychair
Time for a rebuild
So far I've ordered a new rear shock from Hagon (always liked them) and booked it into Reed cycleworks in Texas (500mile round trip) for the engine to be stripped and rebuilt. I'll keep everything updated as and when it happens. Nothing radical just proper Old Skool

Yes Kat750 it is an 18' solid billet wheel!! I love it but the rear tyre is too skinny for me. I've been out in the workshop planning away and dug out some bits I bought with me My Racefit Legend can with homemade link pipe to mate it to V&H sidewinder headers And my carbon wrapped tank and panels by Cosmo. Sadly the lugs all came off and they're a bit banged up from transit, so they'll go off to Blane Gore at Beast motorcycles (again in Texas, more long traveling) to be repaired and brought back to their former glory And a little bit of a close up for you It's going to a K5-7 front end, QB carbon front mud guard in carbon to continue the theme and if I'm lucky a GIA swing arm. But first get her running properly

So after a long round trip to Dallas this w/e the bike has been dropped off to VJ moto and Craig Reed engine builders. The rebuild has started in earnest. Good news at 90psi on the leak down test it was running less than 10% on each cyclinder Compression is cylinders 1, 2 and 4 140 and 3 180 so that needs sorting. It also has 451 lift intake cam and a 470 lift exhaust cam hmmm, not actually sure what that means can anyone enlighten me plse. It also has a 1982 bottom end complete with balanced a welded crank!! The coils weren't earthed!! But all that is getting binned for a full dyna kit coils and ignition etc. I guess I should say thatat this point I am not after mega numbers with this just, reliability hp as I ride her nearly every day. That saying I'd love to see over 120bhp and 90ftlb torque My V&H headers will stay and my Racefit can link pipe are being refitted. The body work will be going on after everything else is done but glad you all like it!!

So it's been a busy but not very photo friendly week. Basically engine has been overhauled inside, valve lash done, oil pan (full of sludge) removed and cleaned out, new dyna coils fitted, I've got hold of a set of mikuni CV36 carbs which are having their pre dyno setup done and are replacing my 38s. The exhaust has gone off for a wee bit of welding before being refitted, I'll probably exhaust wrap the headers while I'm waiting as the chrome has gone a bit shitty over the yrs.
And from Hagon my new shock arrived
It's a slightly odd position where I've gone and bought a bike with a killer drag bike engine (someone has spent a fukkin shitload on it, I mean absolutely everything has been done. I'll put up a full list of it all when we've finished) and we're having problems getting enough fuel into it (for the amount of air she's sucking in) for road use so it's not running lean. It's fine WFO but is a pig at anything near road legal speeds. Should hopefully have a vid of her fired up on Saturday for you.
Happy days

So the pipe is on I just need to make a bracket for the link pipe which will push the can down a bit so it is parallel with foot pegs Also we got the bike running, still fiddling with the carbs to get a rough base setup before we go to the dyno hopefully this week for the final setup. The cams have also been degreed in at 108 LSA instead of 110!! Got a good little vid of her running but can't seem to load it up. Any advice plse
