picked this up before Christmas for a grand looked ok now in the process of a re build originally was going to go modern with running gear but have decided to stick with the period mods forgot how much grease and crud builds up on a bike over 30 years old

Like them old gs1000. I had an 850 which I ended up putting a 1000g motor in. What mono shock stupid is that?

the pictures are deceiving
wiring loom shot to bits and it seems that 1000S looms are different to other looms and pretty much extinct, forks full of smelly gunk which looks like mayonnaise, exhaust bolts snapped in the head and rust everywhere, screen cracked (new one supplied by Grumpy) who just so happens to be within 10 miles of where I live.
fairing bracket missing again unobtainable so far I must have spent 50 hours just cleaning up and working out what I need. will add more pictures soon.
initially going to leave the paintwork until I decide the new colour I am thinking yoshimura red

VW tornado red is a pretty close to the yoshi red.

I've got a couple of genuine wiring diagrams in the shed somewhere but can't find them-
