I bought a K5 750 rear shock recently. Looks like it's going to fit the WN, but I need to remove the threaded bracket section which is on the top next to the canister (or whatever). The bolt has a 12mm nut & 14mm head (or vice versa) and it's really, really tight (possibly thread locked). Is it actually supposed to be removable? Or do I risk damaging the piece? I'll try the WD40 thing to loosen it, but I only have hand tools. Any advice or warnings not to touch it are appreciated. Cheers. Photo (upside down):

Are you talking about the silver bracket on the bottom of the pic? If so its just a adaptor and shouldn't be too tight, sure your undoing it the right way? If not just keep playing with it untill it comes off mate

it should come off normally. Last week i had a 600 K6 shock, and it was a b*stard to unscrew that bracket, really tight, but it came off in the end.

Is there a female thread inside the end of that bracket? And do you want to part company with it if there is?? Looks perfect for a little idea ive got

Got it loose! Is there a female thread inside the end of that bracket? And do you want to part company with it if there is?? Looks perfect for a little idea ive got No thread in the bracket I'm afraid, but as long as the shock fits well and works okay, which I'll only know once the bike is together and tested, then you're welcome to the bracket.

Thanks Del. I went to put it on today and found another snag - I can't get it to fit. It looks like I need to compress the spring down about 3-4mm so that I can line it up to affix the bolt at the top (number 21 in Del's image above). I guess that is done with c spanner, right? This will be interesting
