I'm currently trying to sell one of my bikes through MCN but the only interest I've had is from a bloke in Finland.
He's prepared to sort out all the shipping and wants to know how to complete the deal safely.
Is it worth the hassle or is it likely to be some sort of scam ?
Any help appreciated.

I sold a Thundercat to a bloke who came from Poland and collected it with a trailer, gave me the asking price and took it back. No problems. That was through Gumtree. If you get the guy to send you the money via Paypal or Bank transfer, then it would be him who needs to worry about scamming You could ask him to work it out with a contact of his in the U.K. Not everyone on the 'net is a scammer.

Thanks.
I think I might suggest the Paypal option and see what he says.

Thanks. I think I might suggest the Paypal option and see what he says. I would be careful of the PayPal option. If the account used is found to have been hijacked, they have the right under their T&C to take the money back out of your account. I would only accept a direct money transfer or Western Union, where you pop into a local office and pick up the cash.

Thanks for that info.
Would a money transfer involve giving my bank details ?
Apologies for the dumb arse questions.

Thanks for that info. Would a money transfer involve giving my bank details ? Apologies for the dumb arse questions. Yes it would but it must be safe. I have dozens of company's bank details on my pc at work as we pay them by BACS.

But if you give the necessary bank details (account name, number and sort code) to a buyer, all they can do is pay money in to your account

But if you are on the receiving end of Western Union you get the cash in your hand before you send the bike off.

I don't trust PayPal after it gets into the hundreds. Cash on hand is best, but that's not the question. Western Union, or Bitcoin. (no chargeback problems!) bitcoin.org/en/
