Pretty sure that a GS1000 would be very similar. I know if fitting a GSX1100 unit you need to make new bottom mounts so the same should apply to an oily engine!!

Anyone have measurements for gs1000 to take oily lump? or is it the same as gsx? They are different. The oil-boiler is a fair bit smaller than your GSX lump.

Using these mounts the engine will physically fit but how will intake and exhaust line up? I have a 84 GSX750EF and a 90 GSX750R engine laying around but would like to fit the EF carbs, airbox, exhaust etc. to have it all look semi stock. I also hope that fitting small carbs on this big engine might make it more torque oriented (and loose some power in the process) which is something I like

think the 750EF engine bears more relation with the oil-cooled engines anyhows so doubt the frame/mounts are the same..............
as an aside anyone know if the old air-cooled 750 frames have any issue taking an 1100 air cooled lump?? pretty sure i have done this in the dim and distant past but been mentioned recently i couldn't have done it???

7.5 and 11 Katana frames for example are physically the same.

Is the mountings the same for a GSX 750 as the GSX1100? Im thinking of fitting a GSXR 1100 into my GSX 750 frame and would like to know how much work that would be to actually fit it into the chassi.

I beleive that you can fit a GSX1100 into a GSX750 frame but if i remember rightly, its a bit more of a squeeze. So i would have to say that the mounting points are the same but perhaps the 1100 engine is a bit taller making it tight. GSXR 1100 engine is dimensionally very different from air cooled units and although probably as tall as air cooled units, have a much more compact bottom end. Therer are 2 schools of thought for mounting an R in an a/c frame. 1 is to mount forward to make exhaust run easy - downside of this is you are moving the chain run away from the swingarm pivot potentially giving chain issues and also excessive squat under hard acceleration. 2 is to mount with the gearbox sprocket closer to swingarm pivot alleviating chain issues but the downside to this would be custom built exhaust as engine is mounted a way back in the cradle. Its been done before both ways with great success. Just my take

I just picked up a 83 Katana 1100(with motor) and i'm planning to install a Bandit 1200 motor/wiring and run a draw through Mr. Turbo setup on it. Where can i get/buy mounts for the 83 Kat frame to accept the Bandit 1200 motor?(same as GSXR1100 oil cooled motors) Please let me know! I'm having a heck of a time searching online for mounts to do this. -Mark hybrid1277@yahoo.com

You will have to make the mounts, there are prints of the mounts to aid in makeing them

Happen to know specifically which prints i'll need to use? Sorry, I do not know the air cooled models very well and i'm confused as to which one I need to take to a machinist. Was hoping someone makes these for sale, but I may be able to find a machinist to do it.
Thanks, -Mark
