According to alpha sports parts list, the inner fibre plat eon a 750M clutch is different to the other fibre plates - any ideas why ?
I've been given a clutch assembly to play with and all the plates are new, all the same thickness, and look identical. The 750J/K has all the same plates (but different to the two fitted to the M).
Before anyone says so, I know it won't fit a slabby motor because the primary shafts are different :-)

I don't know about the 750M, but this arrangement would have been a good idea on the 11M. Over the years, i initially only bothered to change one clutch plate, as only one side of the outer disc ever showed any wear. They eventually all wore below the limit and needed to be changed, a plate with greater ability to take up drive, would deffo have been a good idea.

The first fibre plate that goes in first is thicker than all the rest with its own part number

Thanks for the advice. It's going in a tuned engine (light crank, modified rods, modified pistons, modified gearbox, compression boost, re- timed cams, standard valves, light port) which will be checked over regularly so can keep an eye on any wear.
