Looking at the fuse box again as i had an issue with it last year. Tried to take the one of my mates slingy but the screws are seized, the more i tinker with his slingshot or should i say slingROT the more i hate it's design. Anyhow i noticed + - screws inside so figured i should get 12v on the multimeter if i stick it on both screws but nothing? So should that read 12v from them? If so does this mean i'm getting closer to the cause?

Ok just tested his & yes i should have 12v through them screws (didn't notice the + - on them previously) so i guess it's at that plug where the issue lies but i need to get his one of to see if his works on my loom then i'll know if it's the which part of the plug is knackered
Nope, just tried my fuse box & circuit breaker on his bike & they work.

Check the wiring in the circuit breaker holder they do corrode, worth running a cable from battery pos to fuse box supply to bypass the circuit breaker

Just removed the loom & stuck a prong on the main pos wire & stuck the other prong on every pos pin in the conectors & did the same for the neg. In the ohm setting the needle shot to zero each time & if I'm correct this means my loom is good yes??

Yes. That means you have "continuity" from one end to the other, and have no broken wires. That's a great start!

After looking at my mates manual (far clearer than a pdf file) It showed in the wiring diagram a possibility it was the starter relay. I bench tested the loom bypassing the relay & voila!! 12v through the loom. So I connected it back up bypassing it again & BINGO!! my slabby now has power to everything again at last. What's crazy though is how the relay can be fine when before the rebuild then dead after?? Oh well. I need to find one now. See I didn't give up on it & chuck money at someone else (£50+vat ph), no way I was letting it beat me, regardless of it taking forever.

When you say "starter relay" are you referring to the starter solenoid? If so, perhaps consider visiting your local home & garden shop. Look in the lawn mower department for a new replacement. They all operate on the same principle... low current switch operating high current device. Connect up the large high current wires on the large posts, and the small current wires on the small posts. Some models are earthed through the mount and others have an earthing wire. Hook it up and ride! They don't even care about polarity! Paul

I have a replacement on it's way. Yea solenoid, but called a relay on the parts list.

Surprised no one (self included) thought to mention this........ it was one of the first things that was suggested to me when I had the same issue. Mine was the starter motor (just needing tapping with a hammer!), but I did short circuit the solenoid with a screw driver just to be sure. Glad you got it sorted now.
