I wish Just fit the new relay & nothing still. I only get power by taking a wire from the neg battery terminal directly to the little earth post on the relay. All I get is a click when I press the start button, so I swapped the starter motor & no different. I really thought I'd found the problem. The problem though is deffo between the battery & the relay but what?? if I run a different wire as the main earth from the battery to the large post I still get nothing. The ignition is fine or else it wouldn't turn on & off with the bypass.

Right circuit 101....... Battery -NEG post with thick black cable to frame and also engine ONLY! Battery +POS post with thick red cable goes directly to starter motor. A thinner red cable from the battery goes to the alternator. This red also goes up to the ignition switch which when turned comes out on the orange to the fuse box. From the fuse box a orange / trace colour will run via the side stand switch upto the run / engine stop switch which when in the run position comes out of the switch as orange / white that goes to feed coils and to engine ecu/cdi. Internally to the handle bar switch there is an earth connection via black/white to the starter push button which comes out and down to the starter solenoid small post - yellow/green from memory. So those are the wires to check. If there is a clutch switch that interferes with the direct yellow/green connection so something else to check - personally I don't like them as they are a potential problem source - I tend to remove and do without!

Dam I'm my own worst enemy!!! Can someone give me a pleb award. Looking again at the diagram it was just not making sense according to how mine was routed etc. I then had a brainwave & decided to plug in my ext hd to view pics of the strip down & see if I had actually put an earth in the wrong location. Yep that's right not 1 but TWO!!! earths in the wrong place. Well right place but wrong earth wires lol. So a quick re re-route & she's alive!!!!.
So the idiot moment was the earth wire for the starter motor I had on the battery to the starter relay. The earth for the battery to engine I had on the engine & the starter motor pmsl!!. Well I was sure that's how it was before. A quick switch round & BOOM!! she's working at last.
So the moral of this is, don't ask me to fix your bike smileychair Oh & always take pics before any work.

For entertainment value lol. Well I've not got it running still as I seem to have a fueling issue now. It's got new plugs as the old ones had a very week spark. It did splutter when I dripped fuel into the bores & it does try hard to start. I need to take the carbs off but I'm sick of doing it. I've had a break for a few days now so time to crack on again I guess.

Have you fitted Dyna coils? If not that is probably your problem (speaking from experience). I take it you have thoroughly cleaned your carbs / pilot jets New plugs always a must
If you need help with mounting Dyna coils I'll post some pics - they are big so dont fit in standard places

I'd like Dyna coils & new leads but they are pricey. Yea I read they are a bit on the large side & need fitting differently
