This might go against the grain . . . But it's often worth spending a little more to save money in the long run . . . Yup sound just like me dad , so I'll go and find some gardening to do instead go on then explain what your getting at.
I paid what I feel was a good price for the bike. the sum of the parts are more than what I paid for the bike.
and I don't really do standard, so chopping or fightering was always a possibility
my old cb550?4 chop
and my z750 twin I sold a few weeks back

For exhaust studs, this method never fails. 1. Spray with PLUS GAS (forget WD40 or anything else, Plus Gas really does get inside the thread) 2. 24 hrs later Mole grips, done really tight, if the thread starts to twist in any way, go straight to the base of it with the grips, really really b@stard tight - always works. Replace with stainless, with Copperslip

just a quick up date before I go to work.
had Friday off so I had a go at the exhaust again, after trying a few local places all of which didn't want to know.
I ended up cutting the bolt heads off and then breaking the collars where they surround the bolt. the build up of stuff around the head of the bolt had almost welded the two together. once they were off the head I used a stud extractor and got all but one of them out. so I am left with the two to deal with, the one I could not get and the one the previous owner had snapped. so will get some decent drill bits this week and drill them out.

I had this problem welded a nut onto the stud with a mig and it came out real easy.

well the cost of repairing the rear end and a call to hard up choppers resulted in this its a worm burner, with engine mounts for my engine. £600 delivered. and I found a tank I liked on ebay - £30. and got a hexagonal electrics box on its way as well..

Like the front end, those bars suit the style real nice. Only thing I ain't too keen on is the way the tank sits ... personally like to see low tunnel tanks that follow the same angle as the top tube but each to their own eh. Good work

As long as you like it fella, that's all that matters. 10 out of 10 for effort and commitment though.
